17. Two crossroads each 2 m wide run at right angles through the centre of a rectangular
field 90 m by 70 m such that each is parallel to one of the sides of the rectangle. Find
the total cost of covering the crossroads with red gravel at 60 per square metre and
putting grass at the remaining portion of the field at * 50 per square metre.​

Area of a rectangular park =l×b=64×38=2432m

Area of a horizontal road =l×b=64×2=128m

Area of a vertical road =l×b=38×2=76m

Common area =2×2=4m

Area of the roads =204−4=200m

Area of the remaining part of the park =2432−200=2232m
