18. A boat covers a certain distance downstream in 2 hours. It covers the same distance upstream
in 2 1/2hours. The speed of the boat in still water is 18 km/h. Find the speed of the water

Speed of boat in still water= 18

Speed of boat =18-x

distance= S*T

= (18-x)*2

= 36-2x

Upstream

Time taken =2*1/2hrs

Speed of boat =18+x

distance =s*t

= (18+x)*2×1÷2

= 18+x

ATQ

36-2x=18+x

36-18=x+2x

18=3x

18/3=x

x=6

speed of water=6

distance=s*t

=18+6*2

=48
