Answer :-

Given ;-

  • A circular pond has a 1 m wide footpath along the edge.
  • A man walks around the outer edge of the footpath with 1.1 m long steps.
  • In 240 steps, he makes a full round.

To Find :-

  • Radius of the pond .

Solution :-

As we know the man walks 1.1 m long, in 240 steps he make full round

So, the total distance covered = 1.1 × 340 = 374 m

Now we know the total distance = Circumference

Hence,

⇒ 2πr = 374 m

⇒ 2 × 22/7 × r = 374

⇒ 44/ 7 × r = 374

⇒ 44 × r = 374 × 7

⇒ r = 374 × 7/44

r = 59.5

Therefore , the radius of circle = 59.5 m
