ANSWER:-

Let the fraction be x / (x+6)

Then, x / (x+6)+8 = 1/3 ( given)

Therefore, x /(x+14) = 1/3

Cross multiplying, we get:

3 x = x + 14

Or, 3 x - x = 14

Or, 2 x = 14

Or, x = 14 / 2 = 7

Therefore, the original fraction , x / (x +6)= 7 / 13

Check: Adding 8 to the denominator, we get:

7 / (13 + 8) = 7 / 21 = 1 / 3 ✓

So, the original fraction is 7 / 13
