Question :

A stone is projected vertically upwards with a velocity 10 m/s . Find the maximum height reached by the body ? ( g=10m/s² )

Solution :

Initial velocity of the stone (u) = 10 m/s

Maximum height reached (H) = ? m

At maximum height ,

Final velocity of the stone (v) = 0 m/s  [ why ? ]

Since it goes to rest position at maximum height !

Acceleration due to gravity (a) = - 10 m/s²

As it is thrown against the gravity !

Apply 3rd equation of motion ,

\sf v^2-u^2=2as

➠ (0)² - (10)² = 2(-10)(H)

➠ 0 - 100 = - 20H

➠ 20H = 100

H = 5 m  \pink{\bigstar}

Maximum height reached by the body is 5 m .

Answer:

required answer:

Initial velocity of the stone (u) = 10 m/s

Maximum height reached (H) = ? m

At maximum height ,

Final velocity of the stone (v) = 0 m/s [ why ? ]

Since it goes to rest position at maximum height !

Acceleration due to gravity (a) = - 10 m/s²

As it is thrown against the gravity !

Apply 3rd equation of motion ,

↦ v^2- u²= 2as

↦ (0)² - (10)² = 2(-10)(H)

↦ 0 - 100 = - 20H

↦ 20H = 100

↦ H = 5 m

Maximum height reached by the body is 5 m .

so, the answer is (a) 5 m
