If the movement of the cat is given by s-b=9 and the movement of the

mouse is given by 3s-6b=21. At what height do they meet?

Solution:

Cat movement   8s - 3b  = - 9      Eq1

Mouse movement  -3s + b =  1     Eq2

8/-3 ≠ - 3/1  Hence unique solution Exist

mouse and cat be able meet at one point - YES

condition is used to say that a mouse and cat will meet at one point

a₁/a₂ ≠ b₁/b₂

Eq1 + 3 * Eq2

=> 8s - 9s   = -9  + 3

=> - s = - 6

=> s = 6

-3s + b =  1  => b  = 19  

Cat and mouse meet after 6 sec    as height 19 m

movement of the cat is given by s-b=9

movement of the mouse is given by 3s-6b=21

=> b = 2    and s = 11

They meet at 2 m height after 11 sec
