Answer:in Δ pqr

pq = pr

=> Triangle is isosceles

=> ∠ p = ∠r

∠ p + ∠q +  ∠r = 180°  (sum of angles of triangle)

∠q = 40° given

=>  ∠ p + 40°+  ∠r = 180°

=>  ∠ p +  ∠r = 140°

∠ p = ∠r

=> ∠ p +  ∠p = 140°

=> 2∠p = 140°

=> ∠p = 70°
