Question :--- Mohit sold a watch to Karim at a gain of 10% and Karim sold it to Rahim at a gain of 4%. If

Rahim pays 14300 for it, for how much did Mohit purchase it ?

Formula used :--

SP = CP * (100+P%)/100

Solution :---

Let us assume that, The Cost Price of watch for Mohit was Rs.x .

it has been given that he sold this to karim at a gain of 10% .

So ,

→ SP of watch for karim = x * (100+10)/100 = x*110/100 = (11x/10) .

Now, it has been said that, karim sold this watch to rahim at a gain of 4% .

So, SP of karim = CP for Rahim .

SP for karim = (11x/10) * (104/100) = (11x/10) * (26/25) = (11x*13/125)

Value of this is given now, = Rs.14300 ,

So,

(11x*13)/125 = 14300

→ 143x = 14300*125

→ x = Rs. 12500

Hence, Mohit purchase the watch at Rs.12500 ..

Let C.P of watch For Mohit = x

Mohit Sold It At a profit of 10%

S.P of Mohit = x + 10x/100

= 110x/100

= 11x/10

S.P of Mohit = C.P for Karim

Karim sells it at a profit of 4%

So S.P of Karim = 11x + 11x × 4

------ ------------

10 10 × 100

= 1100x + 44x / 1000

S.P Of karim = C.P of Rahim

But Rahim Pays 14300 for it

Therefore,

1144x /1000 = 14300

x = 14300 * 1000/1144

x = Rs 12500
