18. The difference of two positive natural numbers
is 40 and their ratio is 1 : 3. If these two
numbers are the length and breadth of a
rectangle, then determine the perimeter and area
of the rectangle.​

Answer :-

Let the number be x

Other number = 3x

According to the question :-

3x - x = 40

2x = 40

x = 20

Numbers = 20 and 60

Area = Length × Breadth

= 20 × 60

= 1200 m^2

Perimeter = 2 ( l + b )

= 2 ( 20 + 60 )

= 2 ( 80 )

= 160 m
