18. The weight of a stone on the moon is found to be16N. Determine its weight on earth given that the gravitational force on the moon is 1.6N/kg

Given -

  • Weight of stone on moon = 16 N.
  • Gravitational force on moon = 1.6 N/kg.

To Find -

  • Weight of stone on earth ?

Solution -

We know that, Weight is the product of mass and gravitational force (acceleration due to gravity).

⇒ W = mg

Weight on moon :

⇒ 16 = m*1.6

⇒ m = 16/1.6

⇒ m = 10 kg

Now, Calculating Weight om Earth :

⇒ W = 10*9.8

⇒ W = 98 N

Hence, The weight of the stone on earth is 98 N.
