18. Two angles are supplementary and the larger is 20° less than three times the smaller: Find the angles.

Answer with explanation;

Let the angles be  A  and  B ,such that  B>A ,then , we know that supplementary angles have a sum of  180° ,so,

A+B=180°−−−−−−−−(i)  

Now , if we formulate the given question, we get:

B=3A−20° ,so, if we put this value in equation (i), we get:

A+3A−20°=180°⟹4A=200°⟹A=50° ,then,

B=180°−A=180°−50°⟹B=130°  

So, the 2 angles are  50°   and   130° ,
