18. What is the cause of dispersion of white light through a glass prism? Draw a ray diagram
to show the path of light when two identical glass prisms are arranged together in
inverted position with respect to each other and a narrow beam of white light is allowed
to fall obliquely on one of the faces of the prisms.

Dispersion occurs due to refraction of different colors. When the light pass through the first prism light get refracted and when it passes through second prism the light converge and comeout only single wight light.

Answer:

Different colours light has different speed and different wavelength. Hence for each wavelength or colours of the light refractive index is different. So they bend at different angles when passes through a prism. Thus white light gets splits into its 7 constituent colours.
