Find the total number of students:

Total = 1800 + 900 = 2700

Find the number of boys that failed:

Passed = 42% x 1800 = 0.42 x 1800 = 756

Failed = 1800 - 756 = 1044

Find the number of girls that failed:

Passed = 30% x 900 = 0.3 x 900 = 270

Failed = 900 - 270 = 630

Find total number of failure:

Total = 1044 + 630 = 1674

Find the percentage of students that failed:

Percentage = 1674/2700 x 100 = 62%

Answer: 62% of the students failed.

hello

finding total students

1800 + 900 = 2700

finding number of boys and girls passed

1800x42/100 = 756 (boys)

900x30/100 = 270 (girls)

finding number of boys and girls failed

1800 - 756 = 1044 ( boys)

900 - 270 = 630 (girls)

finding total number of students failed

1044 + 630 = 1674

finding the percentage of failed students

1674÷ 2700 x 100 = 62 % .

hence required answer is 62% .

hope it helps you
