melon?
Answers
• Fraction to like melons = 11/72
• Number of people to like melons = 275
Given data:
• Total number of people = 1800
• Fraction to like apples = 7/18
• Fraction to like mangoes = 11/24
To find:
• Fraction to like melons = ?
• Number of people to like melons = ?
Solution:
Here total number of people is 1800 and 1 is the sum of its fractional value.
Then fraction to like melons = 1 - sum of the fractions to like apples and mangoes
= 1 - (7/18 + 11/24)
= 1 - {(28 + 33)/72}
= 1 - 61/72
= (72 - 61)/72
= 11/72
and the number of people to like melons is
= 11/72 * 1800
= 275
