18x + 4x^2 = 22

4x^2 + 18x - 22 =0

2{2x^2 + 9x - 11} = 0

2x^2 + 9x - 11 = 0

2x^2 + 11x - 2x - 11 = 0

x(2x + 11) -1(2x + 11) = 0

(2x + 11) (x-1) = 0

2x + 11 = 0

2x = - 11

x = -11/2

or

x-1=0

x=1

Hope this helps you :)
