1 m = 100cm

total length of wire = 1 m 68 cm

= 100 +68

= 168 cm

wire is cut into two equal piece = 168/2

= 84

so, length of each piece = 84 cm

we know regular Pentagon have 5 equal sides. so,

for make regular Pentagon from piece of wire, lengths of the sides of the pentagon = 84/5

= 16.8 cm

lengths of the sides of the pentagon = 16.8 cm

we know regular hexagon have 6 equal sides

so,

for make a regular hexagon from piece of wire, the length of sides of hexagon = 84/6

= 14 cm

the length of the sides of hexagon = 14 cm

the difference in the lengths of the sides of the pentagon and hexagon formed = length of sides of pentagon – length of sides of hexagon

= 16.8–14

= 2.8 cm

hope it helps you :)
