Given : digging a well of diameter 4m and 21m deep

embankment in the shape of circular ring of width 3m.

To Find :   volume of earth taken out of the well.

a) 251 cu.m b)264cu.m c) 340 cu.md) 300 cu.m

surface area of the embankment

a) 55 sq m b) 66 sq m c) 44 sq m d) 77 sqm

Solution:

Diameter = 4 m  => radius = 2 m

volume of earth taken out of the well. = π * 2²  * 21

π = 22/7

= ( 22/7)2² * 21

= 264 m³

Radius of outer ring = 2 + 3  =  5 m

surface area of the embankment = π(5² - 2²)

= 21π

= 21 ( 22/7)

= 3(22)

= 66 m²

Amount paid to the contractor for digging = 75 x 264

= Rs 19800

earth   laid as embankment is   filled in 11 cylindrical pots

264/ 11 = 24 pots
