Step-by-step explanation:

Given:-

18, 26, 33, 42, 18, 4, 9, 18, 17 and 26.

To find:-

Find the mean, median and mode of the given data?

Solution:-

Given observations are:

18, 26, 33, 42, 18, 4, 9, 18, 17 and 26.

Mean:-

Sum of all observations =

18+26+33+42+18+4+9+18+17+26

=211

Number of all observations = 10

We know that

Mean = Sum of all observations/Number of all observations

=> Mean = 211/10

Mean = 21.1

Median:-

Given observations are:

18, 26, 33, 42, 18, 4, 9, 18, 17 and 26.

On writing them into ascending order

4, 9, 17, 18, 18, 18, 26, 26, 33, 42

Number of all observations = 10

10 is an even number

We know that

If the number of all observations in the given data is.'n', an odd then the median is the average of

(n/2) th and (n/2)+1th observations.

n/2 th observation

= 10/2

=5th observation

=18

(n/2)+1 th observation

=> 5+1 th observation

=> 6th observation

=> 18

Median = average of 5th and 6th observations

=> Median = (18+18)/2

=> Median = 36/2

Median = 18

Mode :-

Given observations are:

18, 26, 33, 42, 18, 4, 9, 18, 17 and 26.

On writing them into ascending order

4, 9, 17, 18, 18, 18, 26, 26, 33, 42

18 occurs 3 times in the given data

So, Mode = 18

Answer:-

Mean of the given data = 21.1

Median of the given data = 18

Mode of the given data = 18

Used formulae:-

  • Mean = Sum of all observations/Number of all observations

  • If the number of all observations in the given data is.'n', an odd then the median is the average of (n/2) th and (n/2)+1th observations.

  • Mode is the most frequent occuring observation of the given data .
