Given:

(See in attachment)

Find:

  • Mean of the given distribution.

Solution:

\begin{tabular}{|c|c|c|}\cline{1-3}   x_{i} & f_{i} &f_{i}x_{i}\\\cline{1-3}5 & 2 & 10 \\\cline{1-3}10& 8& 80\\\cline{1-3}15 & 15 & 225\\\cline{1-3}20 & 10 & 200\\\cline{1-3}25 & 5 & 125 \\\cline{1-3}&\sum\limits f_{i}=40& \sum\limits f_{i}x_{i}=640 \\  \cline{1-3}\end{tabular}

we, know that

→ Mean = Σfixi/Σfi

where,

  • Σfixi = 640
  • Σfi = 40

Substituting these values

↦ Mean = Σfixi/Σfi

\sf \bar x = 640/40

\sf \bar x = 64/4

\sf \bar x = 16

Hence, mean of the following data is 16
