Solution :-

Class frequency

0.5 - 9.5 5

9.5 - 19.5 8

19.5 - 29.5 12

29.5 - 39.5 11

39.5 - 49.5 8

49.5 - 59.5 6

we have,

  • Modal class = class with highest frequency = 19.5 - 29.5 .
  • L = Lower limit of modal class = 19.5 .
  • h = size of class interval = 10 .
  • f1 = frequency of modal class = 12 .
  • f0 = frequency of class preceding modal class = 8 .
  • f2 = frequency of class succeeding modal class = 11 .

we know that,

  • Mode = L + [(f1 - f0) / (2f1 - f0 - f2)] * h .

putting all values we get,

→ Mode = 19.5 + [(12 - 8) / (2*12 - 8 - 11)] * 10

→ Mode = 19.5 + (4/5) * 10

→ Mode = 19.5 + 8

→ Mode = 27.5 (Ans.)
