Base = 5

Power = 2

if base is increased by 20%, then

Base = 5+5×20%

= 5+1

= 6

if base = 5

then, 5²= 25

if base = 6

then, 6²= 36

Difference in values = 36-25 = 11

increase in percentage = 11/25×100 =44%

Answer:

Required percentage increase 44%

Step-by-step explanation:

Given number is {5}^{2} and base of {5}^{2} is increased by 20%.

Here we want to find how much percent will increase the value ?

Here base of 5² is 5 and power is 2.

We know,

x% increase of y  =  \frac{100 + x}{100}  \times y

So,20% increase of 5

 =  \frac{100 + 20}{100} \times 5  \\  =  \frac{120}{100}  \times 5 \\  = 6

Now 5² becomes 6².

Value of 5² = 25

and value of 6²  = 36

Value increases  = (36 - 25)  = 11

Here 25 means 100%

So, 1 means  \frac{100}{25} \%

and 11 means

 \frac{100}{25}  \times 11 \\  = 4 \times 11 \\  = 44\%

This is a problem of Power of indices.

Some important formulas of Power of indices:

{x}^{0}  = 1 \\  {x}^{1}  = x \\  {x}^{a}  \times  {x}^{b}  =  {x}^{a + b}  \\  \frac{ {x}^{a} }{ {x}^{b} }  =  {x}^{a - b} \\  {x}^{ {y}^{a} }   =  {x}^{ya}  \\  {x}^{ - 1}  =  \frac{1}{x}  \\  {x}^{a}  \times  {y}^{a}  =  {(xy)}^{a}
