Given,

The total distance of journey = 96km

The ratio of distance travelled by taxi, train and bus = 5:8:3

The charges per km by taxi, train and bus = 4:3:2

Taxi charges per kilometer = Rs.2

To Find,

The total cost of the journey.

Solution,

The distance covered by taxi = \frac{5}{16}(96) = 30km

The distance covered by train = \frac{8}{16}(96) = 48km

The distance covered by train = \frac{3}{16}(96) = 18km

Charges ratio for taxi, train and bus are in the ratio 4:3:2

Taxi charges per kilometer = Rs.2

Charges for train = \frac{3}{4} parts of 2 = Rs.1.5

Charges for bus = \frac{2}{4} parts of 2 = Rs.1

Total charges = (30×2)+(48×1.5)+(18×1)

= 60+72+18

= 150

Henceforth, the total cost of journey = Rs.150.
