Then According to the problem 

After 5 years salary wil become

x+5y = 4500........(1)

After 12 years salary will be

x+12y = 5550........(2)

Hence we get equations

x+5y = 4500........(1)

x+12y = 5550........(2)

Subtracting eq (1) from eq(2)

7y = 1050

⇒y=71050=150

Putting value of y in eq(1)  we get x = 3750
