The problem with a single party system is that it very quickly develops a class of political operators that become entrenched. They implement policies and laws to ensure that their party dominates all functions of government and perpetuates its position.

This would be the very antithesis of democracy. In such a system, the “demos” (people) would have no “kratia” (power). It would all be transferred to the party.
