greater than its numerator by 3. If 3 is

Answer:

let fraction is x/y

here , numerator=x

and denominator=y

according to question,

y=x+3

again ,

if we subtract 3 from numerator,

numerator become x-3

and if we add 2 to denominator ,

denominator become=y+2

new fraction= (x-3)/(y+2)

according to question, new fraction=1/5

so, 1/5=(x-3)/(y+2)

y+2= 5x-15

y= 5x-15-2=5x-17

and above we have ,y= x+3

so by comparing these two eq,

x+3=5x-17,

20=4x ,

x=5

so y=5+3=8

so fraction is 5/8
