We will observe that a white substance which is insoluble in water is formed. This insoluble substance is known as a precipitate. The white precipitate is due the the formation of insoluble barium sulphate. The reaction takes place is --

Na2SO4 (aq.) + BaCl2 (aq.) ----> NaCl (aq.) + BaSO4 (s)

The type of reaction took place is Double Displacement reaction, as precipitate is formed as well so it is also called precipitation reaction.
