Given to add the terms of

19x + 15y + 2xy – 21 and 3x + 8y – 2xy + 11

Concept to know :-

While adding the terms we can add only like terms we cannot add unlike terms

Solution:-

Sum of 19x + 15y + 2xy – 21 and 3x + 8y – 2xy + 11 is

19x + 15y + 2xy - 21 + 3x + 8y - 2xy + 11

First keep like terms together

  • Like terms with respect to variable x = 19x , 3x
  • Like terms with respect to variable y = 15y , 8y
  • Like terms with respect to variable xy = 2xy , -2xy

19x + 3x + 15y + 8y + 2xy - 2xy -21 + 11

Now add the terms

22x + 23y - 10

So, the sum of 19x + 15y + 2xy – 21 and 3x + 8y – 2xy + 11 is 22x + 23y - 10
