Solution:

A  = P  ( 1 + R/100)ⁿ

R = 4

n = ?

A = 2P

=> 2P  =  P  ( 1 + 4/100)ⁿ

=> 2 = (26/25)ⁿ

Taking log both sides

=> log 2 = n log (26/25)

=>  0.301  = n (  1.415 - 1.398)

=> 0.301 = n ( 0.017)

=> n = 17.7

17.7 years

Hence approx 18 years
