Price of 1m cotton=₹40
price of 1m silk=₹30
Since,for every 2m silk,there is 3m cotton.
the ratio is 2:3
let the ratio be x.
price of 2m silk=2*30=₹60
price of 3m cotton =3*4=₹120
Total price=₹180
Price of clothes bought=₹5400
ATQ,
5400=2/3x*180
5400*1/180=2/3x
30=2/3x
x=30*3/2
x=45m
length of cotton i own=3*45m=135m

Concept

In mathematics, a ratio indicates how many times one number contains another

Given

1) 1m cotton price 40

2) 1m silk price 30

3) For every 2m silk we have 3m cotton

4) Total money 5400

Find

Total length of cotton

Solution

Let length of silk be x and length of cotton be y metre

silk = x

cotton = y

Price of each metre of silk = 30

Price of x metre of silk = 30x

Similarily

Price of y metre of cotton = 40y

We are also given that

2x = 3y

Totak = 5400

30x + 40y = 5400

15(2x) + 40y = 5400

15*3y + 40y = 5400

45y + 40y = 5400

85y = 5400

y = 63.5

2x = 3*63.5

x = 95.25

The length of cotton is 63.5 metres and length of silk is 95.25 metres.
