1. There was huge increment in defence expenditure because of this war , the British government taxed the people heavily to cope with them.

2. Customs duty and income tax was increased.

3. Between 1913 and 1918 , the prices of goods in the market were sky rocketing.

4. People were angered in the rural areas because of forced recruitment into the army at the time of war.

5.Great famine broke out during 1920-21 in which about 120 to 130 million people lost their lives. People had hoped that their troubles would cone to an end after war. But this did not happen.
