Given :-

  • 1/5 part of a rod was painted black .
  • 2/3 part of the total rod was coloured white .

To Find :-

  • The part of the rod left without colour was ?

Solution :-

As we know that, any value in total is equal to 1.

so,

→ Part of rod that was painted black = (1/5) part of 1 = 1 * (1/5) = (1/5) part .

and,

→ Part of rod that was painted white = (2/3) part of 1 = 1 * (2/3) = (2/3) part .

then,

→ Total part that was painted black and white = (1/5) + (2/3) = (3 + 5*2)/15 = (3 + 10) / 15 = (13/15) part .

therefore,

→ Part of rod left without colour = Total - Total part that was painted = 1 - (13/15) = (15 - 13)/15 = (2/15) (Ans.)

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the rod be 1

Given :

Black paint in the rod = 1/5 of 1.

Paint with white =2/3 of the 1

The total part paint with colour is 1/5 + 2/3

1/5 + 2/3

To make same denominator, Take L.C.M of 5 and 3 = 15

3 / 15 + 10 /15

= 13 /15

Now we know the total rod is X then remaining is the part which is not coloured.

= 1 - 13 /15

= 15 - 13 / 15

= 2 /15

The part of the rod left without colour was 2/15
