Given :  The monitors of computers are measured along the diagonal.

To Find : the size of the largest monitor that can be placed in a space measuring 17" x 21"

Solution:

Maximum space available =  17" x 21"

Applying Pythagorean theorem  maximum diagonal size can be

=  √17² + 21²

= √289 + 441

= √730

= 27.02

≈ 27

Hence  size of the largest monitor that can be placed in a space measuring

27''
