Solution :

Given :-

▪ Charge on water drop = 1×10^{-6}C

▪ Mass of water drop = 10^{-6}kg

To Find :-

▪ What electric field should be applied on the drop so that it is the balance condition with its weight

Concept :-

This question is completely based on concept of 'Force equilibrium'.

▶ Electrical Force = Weight Force

Calculation :-

\implies\bf\:qE=mg\\ \\ \implies\sf\:10^{-6}\times E=10^{-6}\times 10\\ \\ \implies\underline{\boxed{\bf{\large{\pink{E=10\:NC^{-1}}}}}}

Additional information :

  • Electric field is region around charged particle or charged body in which if another charge is placed it experiences electrostatic force.
  • It is a vector quantity.
  • Its direction is the same as the force experienced by positive charge.
  • Direction of electric field due to positive charge is always from it while due to negative charge always towards it.
