A's salary ratio,

last : present = 2 : 3

present year salary of A= (3x/2)*3 = 9x/2

B's salary ratio,

last : present = 4 : 5

present year salary of B = (5x/4)*5 = 25x/4

Sum of present year salary = 86000

9x/2 + 25x/4 = 86000

86x/8 = 86000

x = 8000

present year salary of A is (9*8000)/2

= 36000
