Given:-

  • Mass of book ,m = 1 kg

  • Height ,h = 1 m

  • Acceleration due to gravity,g = 9.8m/s²

To Find:-

  • Potential Energy ,P.E

Solution:-

As we know that Potential Energy is defined as the energy produced in body due to its height.

• P.E = mgh

Substitute the value we get

→ P.E = 1×9.8 ×1

→ P.E = 9.8 J

Therefore ,the potential energy is 9.8 J

Additional Information !!

•The rate of doing work is called power .

OR

The rate at which energy is transferred by an object is called the Power delivered by that object.

•SI unit of Power is Watt (W).

Mathematical Term

• P = w/t

• 1 horse Power = 746 Watt .

• The work done by a force acting on an object is equal to the product of force and the displacement of the object in the direction of the force.

• SI unit is Joule (J).

Answer:

  • The required potential energy of the book = 9.8 joule

Given:

  • The given mass of the book is 1 kg.
  • The given height is 1 m.
  • The given acceleration due to gravity is 9.8m/s².

Need To Find:

  • The required potential energy of the book = ?

Solution:

Formula used here:

  • Potential Energy = Mass × Gravity × Height

Putting the values:

➦ Required Potential Energy = 1 × (9.8 × 1)

➦ Required Potential Energy = 1 × 9.8

➦ Required Potential Energy = 9.8 joule

Therefore:

  • The required potential energy of the book is 9.8 joule.
