2.1 Mahesh digs a 30-inch-deep hole in the ground. He then covers 13 inches of the hole with rocks
How will you represent the depth of the hole using integers?
Answers
Mahesh digs hole = 30 inch
Mahesh covers the hole = 13 inches
Depth of the hole = (length of dug hole) - (Length of covered hole)
= 30 inches - 13inches
= 17 inches

Concept
Integers are the set of those real numbers which are complete t.e. There are no digits after the decimals. Hence, to calculate the depth of the hole we will first subtract the given condition and then write this in integer form.
Given
The depth of the hole is 30 inches.
The length of the hole covered with rocks is 13 inches.
Find
We have to calculate the depth of the hole after covering some part of the depth with rocks.
Solution
Since the depth of hole is 30 inches.
Therefore the depth of the hole after putting some rocks in it will be
= 30 inches - 13 inches
= 17 inches
We see that the given number is already in the integer form, therefore we don't have to write it in the approximate integer form.
Hence the depth of the integer after covering it with some stone is 17 inches.
