Answer:

given,

-2-13.8x=-8x-(6x+1)

first solve the brackets,

=> -2 -13.8x = -8x -6x -1

how did we solve the brackets? notice there's only minus sign outside the bracket so inside of the bracket would be multiplied with a minus. now multiplying minus with 6x gives us -6x and multiplying minus with +1 gives us -1 .

now shift all the x terms to the LHS,

=> -13.8x +8x +6x = -1 +2

the signs before the terms change to their opposite sign when they are shifted to the other side of the equal (=) sign.

=> 0.2x = 1

=> x = 1 ÷ 0.2

therefore,

=> x = 5
