Step-by-step explanation:

Given :-

2x- 3y =12

4x -5y=60

To find :-

Solve the equations by Elimination method ?

Solution :-

Given equations are :

2x- 3y =12 -----------(1)

4x -5y=60 -----------(2)

On multiplying (1) with 2 then

4x-6y = 24 -----------(3)

On Subtracting (3) from (2) then

4x-5y = 60

4x-6y = 24

(-) (+) (-)

_________

0+y = 36

________

Therefore, y = 36

On Substituting the value of in (1) then

=> 2x-3(36) = 12

=> 2x -108 = 12

=> 2x = 12+108

=> 2x = 120

=> x = 120/2

=> x = 60

Therefore , x = 60 and y = 36

Answer:-

The solution for the given problem is (60,36)

Check:-

If x = 60 and y = 36 then

LHS of (1)

= 2(60)-3(36)

= 120-108

= 12

= RHS

LHS of (2)

= 4x-5y

= 4(60)-5(36)

= 240-180

= 60

= RHS

LHS = RHS is true for x = 60 and y = 36

Used Method :-

  • Method of Elimination.
