Hi....

2^(3/2)

If you follow the BEDMAS rule, you first evaluate the things present inside the brackets with a higher priority.

Thus, 3/2 = 1.5

Now calculate 2^(1.5) that gives you 2.8284 (easier if you have a scientific calculator)

Other way round,

2^(3/2) contains a mixed number i.e.: 2^(1+1/2) (∵ 3/2 = 1+1/2))

2^(1+1/2) = 2^1*2^(1/2) =2√2 = 2*1.4.141 = 2.8284

hope it will help u. :-)
