 \frac{2}{3}  + ( -  \frac{5}{4} ) + ( -  \frac{1}{3} ) \\  \\  =  \frac{2}{3}  -  \frac{5}{4}  -  \frac{1}{3}  \\  \\  =  \frac{2}{3}  - ( \frac{5}{4}  +  \frac{1}{3} ) \\  \\  =  \frac{2}{3}  - ( \frac{15 + 4}{12} ) \\  \\  =  \frac{2}{3}  -  \frac{19}{12}  \\  \\  =  \frac{8 - 19}{12}  \\  \\  =  -  \frac{11}{12}
