Let the original number be x

As it is given that 2/3 of x is less than x by 10, Therefore:-

According to question,

 =  > x -  \dfrac{2}{3}  \times x = 10

 =  > x -  \dfrac{2x}{3}  = 10

 =  >  \dfrac{3x - 2x}{3}  = 10

 =  >  \dfrac{x}{3}  = 10

 =  > x = 3 \times 10

 =  > x = 30

Hence, the original number is 30.

Verification:-

L.H.S

 = x -  \dfrac{2x}{3}

 = 30 -  \dfrac{30 \times 2}{3}

 = 30 -  \dfrac{60}{3}

 = 30 - 20

 = 10

L.H.S is 10 and RHS is also 10.

Therefore, L.H.S = R.H.S

Hence, Proved.
