Let the number be x

according to the question,

 \frac{2}{3}  \times x + 20 = x

or you could take it as

 \frac{2}{3}  \times x = x - 20

 \frac{2x}{3}  =  x - 20

by cross multiplication,

2x = 3( x  - 20)

2x = 3x - 60

60 = 3x - 2x

60 = x

hence the number is 60

Verification:

 \frac{2}{3}  \times 60 + 20 = 60

40 + 20 = 60

LHS = RHS

therefore verified

Hope it helps

have a great day
