Equivalent mass of O = 16/2 g = 8 g/eq

In 2.32 g of the metal oxide :

Number of equivalents of O = (0.16 g) / (8 g/eq) = 0.02 eq

Number of equivalents of the metal = Number of equivalents of O = 0.02 eq

Mass of the metal = (2.32 – 0.16) g = 2.16 g

Therefore, Equivalent mass of the metal = (2.16 g) / (0.02 eq) = 108 g/eq
