1 ) Let x = 2.3777....( 1 )

Multiply equation ( 1 ) with 10 , we get

10x = 23.7777..---( 2 )

Multiply equation ( 2 ) with 10 , we

get ,

100x = 237.777....( 3 )

Subtract equation ( 2 ) from ( 3 ) , we

get

90x = 214

x = 214/90 ---( 4 )

2 ) Let y = 0.3535....( 5 )

Multiply equation ( 5 ) with 100 , we

get ,

100y = 35.3535...--( 6 )

Subtract equation ( 5 ) from ( 6 ) ,

we get

99y= 35

y = 35/99 ----( 7 )

Now ,

2.3777.... + 0.3535....

= x + y

= 214/90 + 35/99

LCM ( 90 , 99 ) = 990

= ( 2354 + 350 )/990

= 2704/990
