5x+y=9 ...(2)

On multiplying eq 2 by 4 we get,

=> (5x+y=9)×4

=> 20x+4y=36 ..(3)

On adding eq 1 and 2 we get,

=>20x+4y=36

+(3x-4y=10)

=> 23x=46

=> x=46/23

=> x=2

On putting x=2 in eq 1

=>3×2-4y=10

=> 6-4y=10

=> -4y=10-6

=> -4y = 4

=> y=4/-4

=> y=(-1)

Hence x=2 and y= (-1)
