Answer:

The answer is 42.

Now there are two ways to get this.

First way.

If we look at the series given above we see that we got 4 in the second place and that's because we must have multiplied the first term 2 with 2. Similarly if we multiply 3 with first term we get 6 that's our third term. Going on this way we get another series that is 2, 3, 5, 8, 13…now in this series if we look more closely we see that the third term 5, it is a result of adding the first and second term. Now similarly if we look at the fourth term in our second series it nothing but 8. We can only get 8 if we add the third term 5 with second term 3. If we go on this way with our second series we get 21 as the next term after 13. Now we know that if we multiply each and every term of our second series with 2(keeping the first term as 2) we get our original series and also now since we have calculated our 6th term in our second series we multiply it with 2 and we get our answer.

Second way.

If we look at the given series we get a new series as follows 2, 4, 6, 10…We get this second series by calculating the difference between the individual terms. Since this new series is exactly the same series we by mere logical decision can say that this new series will have 16 as the next term, we will add this term thus calculated to the last term of our original series which is 26, we get 42 as the answer.

26 is the answer because

2+2=4

4+2=6

6+4=10

10+6=16

next sequence is 10+16=26
