Water is an essential nutrient to life on Earth. No organism can survive for more than a few days without drinking water or else major body functions will start to malfunction.
Water helps protecting internal organs, regulate body temperature, maintain optimal body acidity, and is a vital component for organs to function.
Water is the medium in which all the chemical reaction necessary for life occur. Those reactions are most often facilitated by enzymes that means the breakdown of proteins, fats and carbohydrates occur occurs in an aqueous environment. A liquid is a much better transport medium for nutrients and other life-necessary compounds than a solid.
