Answer

conical tents are made by the tarpaulin so the curved surface of cone is made by tarpaulin

so

total curved surface of 5 conical tents = area covered by 2 meter wide tarpaulin eq 1

curved surface area of one conical tent= π * r * h eq2

where r is the radius of conical tents

and h is the height of conical tent

curved surface area of one conical tent= π * 4 * 3

where π=3.14 (given)

curved surface area of one conical tent= 3.14 * 4 * 3

= 37.68 meter square

so the area of 5 conical tents= 5*(37.68)

=188.4 meter square eq3

let the length of tarpaulin is L

and width is D

so the area of tarpaulin = L * D eq4

using eq 1, 3, 4

=> 188.4= L * D

=> L= 188.4/2 meter

=> L= 94.2 meter

so to make 5 conical tents having 8 m diameter and 3 m height ,

2 meter wide and 94.2 meter long tarpaulin is required
