Given :   2/5 kilogram of soil fills 1/3 of a container.  

To Find : How much soil does a full container hold.

Solution:

1/3 of  container  is filled  with  Soil  = 2/5 kg

=> 1  container is filled with soil = (2/5) /(1/3) kg

=>  container is filled with soil =  ( 2 x 3)/ 5  kg

=>  container is filled with soil =6/ 5  kg

=>  container is filled with soil =  1 1/ 5 kg

=>  container is filled with soil =  1.2 kg

Full container holds 6/ 5  kg or 1.2  kg   Soil

Solution:

Let the container total volume be x

Then      2/5 kg    -     x/3

               y kg       -     x

By cross multiplication,

y=\frac{2}{5}x/\frac{x}{3}

y = \frac{6}{5}

∴The full container hold 6/5 kilogram of soil.
