Let total no. of students be x.

By car : 2x/5

by bus : x/4

Rest = x -(2x/5 +x/4) = x - (8x+5x)/20

= (20x-13x)/20

= 7x/20

So, 1/3 of 7x/20 = 7x/60 by own.

So , rest 2/3 of 7x/20 escorted by parents

As walking by own is 224.

or, 7x/60 = 224

or, 7x = 60×224

or, x = 60×224/7 = 1920.

So, there are 1920 students in the school .
